Conversation is an important means of communication to share information, ideas and emotions. Different cultures have different rules, languages and customs about the proper conduct of communication. Misunderstanding occurs when people apply different ‘rules of communication’ within a conversation. In this seminar Dawn, an Indigenous woman of the Bardi (West Kimberley) and Indjarbandi (Pilbara) Peoples will share her insights into yarning, the Indigenous way of communicating. The audience will be able to apply these principles when speaking with Indigenous people and explore wider applications in communication.
